Conservation

Understanding older buildings and traditional techniques requires specialist knowledge

Residential

Project Overview
Grade II Listed Weaver's Cottage in Conservation Area

Extended living accommodation was required including a new family bathroom, master bedroom with en-suite, garage, entrance hall and utility room. The original lean-to garage and lobby had deteriorated due to its exposed position in a very scenic part of the Colne Valley. arctic associates consulted with the local Conservation and Planning Officer providing a sympathetic two storey extension.

Specialist skills

Specialist skills and knowledge are often utilised for the repair and refurbishment of traditional buildings. At arctic our staff have gathered this expertise through working on many different such projects.

We have valuable connections with Specialist Contractors and Craftsmen as well as other experts in the field of conservation through our association with SPAB (Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings) and EASA (Ecclesiastical Architects and Surveyors Association).

Ecclesiastical

Project Overview
Grade II Listed Church Refurbishments

Considerable scaffolding to the north elevation of the church for stone repairs was utilised to redecorate the clock face and replace the bell frame with a grant helping to defray some of the costs to the church. arctic consulted with specialist stone masons to re-carve a weather moulding. The community room can now be used without the fear of falling masonry!
